Thursday, June 1, 2023 10:17AM CDT The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) on Wednesday began a two-day hearing in downtown Des Moines focusing on potential new rules for carbon pipelines that the agency could begin drafting later this year. The meeting drew a large contingency of rural landowners trying to block carbon pipelines from crossing their property or communities.

Five of the eight major fertilizers are now more expensive compared to last month. One fertilizer, urea, showed a significant increase. The nitrogen fertilizer is 5% higher compared to last month with an average price of $623/ton.

December corn is up 7 1/2 cents, November soybeans are up 19 cents and July KC wheat is up 9 cents.
Livestock was higher across the board Wednesday as cash optimism remains strong for cattle. Feeder cattle are in demand at auctions with higher prices paid for tight supplies. Cash hogs were substantially higher as recently demand seems to have increased and packers needed hogs.
